These desktop packages provide a way to manage DNA and protein sequences, including building vectors, restriction analysis and a variety of protein and DNA sequence analyses.
- MacVector
- Popular commercial tool for MacOS X and Classic. Includes sequence assembly software and hooks to some internet searches. From Accelrys.
- LaserGene
- Commercial package from DNAStar, with similar functions to MacVector.
- Vector NTI Suite
- Another commercial package, claims to be more comprehensive than the previous two, but I haven't looked much into it.
